Friday, 29 June 2007 Day 366 My First Birthday!!! I am one year old today! Wow! It's been quite a year for me. I was born in New York City and now I'm a California girl. A year ago I could barely open my eyes, and now I am walking, talking, and learning so many new things every day. My days usually start at around 6:00 am when I wake up (and I wake up Mommy, Daddy and our dogs Wilson and Bailey) and play for about an hour until breakfast at 7:00 am. For breakfast I like eating eggs, zucchini, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, banana, rice cereal, bread and sometimes I get pancakes! After breakfast I play again, sometimes outside in the backyard. Grandma eats breakfast with me too, and we play and have lots of fun when I'm done. We always turn on the classical music station on the radio so I can dance throughout the day. I nap at about 9:00 for an hour (if I'm feeling tired enough) and then it's off to swimming, or to see my baby friends, or wherever it is our adventures take us that day. Lunch is at noon, followed by another nap around 1:00 pm and then in the afternoon I play again, often times outside in the garden (nice life, eh?) Wilson and Bailey keep me company, but especially Bailey. We have a special bond. Sometimes we go to the zoo or to the park or even the beach in the afternoon. In Santa Barbara, we have all kinds of fun stuff to do. I eat dinner around 5:00 pm and then it's bathtime at 6:00 pm and bedtime at 7:00 pm. But not before we read a few books and get a little more playtime in my room. Sometimes Mommy puts me to bed, sometimes Daddy puts me to bed, and most nights I sleep until morning. A few times lately I've been up once or twice at night, but I'm just making sure everyone's OK before I drift back into slumberland. All in all, it's a wonderful life :-) |

Tuesday, 26 June 2007 Day 363 Grandma Edie came to town yesterday to visit with me for the week and to help me celebrate my first birthday on Friday. She came to swim class with me and Mommy, and I got to show her just how comfortable I've become in the water. But swimming is only one of many accomplishments during my first year of life... I have nine teeth! I eat solid food. I've flown across the United States six times! I can say lots of words: Mama, Dada, Woof-woof, Baby, Bailey, Ball, Bird, Balloon & Flower. I can wave goodbye and say "Bye-Bye." I like to dance to music. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can remember right now. |

Sunday, 17 June 2007 Day 354 Fathers' Day Mommy helped me pick out some presents she thought Daddy would like. We gave him a book, some boxer shorts and some candies. Daddy must have thought I picked them out on my own because he was giving me lots of hugs and kisses. Since it was his first Fathers' Day ever, Mommy and I took Daddy out to brunch at the Paradise Cafe in Santa Barbara. The food was good, and we sat out on the patio. I thought that was great, because I could see lots of little flying creatures and practice saying another of my favorite new words... "Bird!" |

Sunday, 10 June 2007 Day 347 Today we celebrated all the one year birthdays in the PEP moms and babies group out here in Santa Barbara. We went to the Beach Grill at Padaro and had lots of fun eating and playing with balloons and sand. So much fun! I'm almost one year old... where does the time go? |

Thursday, 7 June 2007 Day 344 Mommy and I flew back to California on Wednesday, March 30th. Daddy got back to California with the moving truck on Friday night, and he and Mommy unpacked the truck on Saturday. Since then we've all been working hard to try to get all moved in to the house. My room is all set up now, and I am very happy... I'm even going to bed easier now. Sometimes I'm wide awake and I just lay down in my crib without a sound. I guess when you're happy and you feel at home, that's what you do. Even Daddy can put me down for bed and naps now without a bottle. Everyone seems pleased. :-) One of my favorite things to do now is read books before bed (it's kind of a stall tactic, but I think they're on to me... I'm not sure). Either way, I like read them and saying the word, "book," too. |
