Day 7

Grandma Delfina flew back to california this morning. I miss her already.

It was pretty quiet around here today. Mommy fed me a lot during the day. She feeds me every two hours while the su nis up, and we sleep for about four hours at a time during the night. This really seems to have Mommy and Daddy in a good mood.

We took a trip to the grocery store today. C-Town has a wide selection of Goya products, and I must say, I am a big fan.

Bailey is almost as cute as me :-)

Day 6

It's Independence Day! The day our forefathers said "Hey England, we're just fine on our own, old chaps!"

I'm still dependent on my folks for everything at this point. They seem pretty happy today. They must really like fireworks and stuff. Or maybe they're just happy that I slept a lot last night. They did too, I think. They look much more refreshed this morning than they have in a while. Maybe I'll try to be more cooperative in the wee hours... everyone seems to be happier when I am :-)

We had a picnic in the park behind our building to celebrate the 4th of July. You could hear fireworks going off all around the city, but you could only really see the ones people shot off in the local neighborhood.

My grandma Delfina is going home to California tomorrow. I will miss her very much. But I will see her real soon. My first plane trip will be in 3 weeks--I'm going back to Cali!

Day 5

This morning we went to see my Doctor, Carole Gervais. She's really nice. She said I'm doing well, and that I should come back to see her again next week.

Then a nice woman came by to see my Mommy. She's what they call a "Lactation Consultant." I don't know what that means, but after she left, my feedings went so much smoother. I am really getting the hang of this breastfeeding thing. And Mommy seems to be wincing less when I nurse. I guess that's good.

Daddy was sleepy, so I kept him company.

Day 4

We went for a walk in the park today.

Mommy and Daddy are so tired. I guess it's because I cry at night. But I'm so hungry! Thankfully, Mommy's milk started coming in today. I don't know if any of you have ever had to subsist on Colostrum alone, but let me tell you... it's no picnic. Mommy's milk fills me up so much more and then I can sleep better when I'm finished. This seems to make us all happier.

Day 3

Today I met some new friends. Sunny and Eric came by to say "Hi!" They have a dog named Charlie who is good friends with my brothers Wilson and Bailey. Wilson and Bailey are our doggies and they have welcomed me into the Fabio pack. Bailey likes to lick my toes and Wilson is always on guard, protecing us all from any danger that may be lurking.

Grace Marie Fuchs, born 18 May 2006

In the afternoon, Jim and Lara Fuchs came by with their daughter Grace. Grace Marie Fuchs was born six weeks before me. Actually, to be precise, she was born five weeks, six days, 23 hours, and 59 minutes before me, at 11:38 am on Thursday, 18 May 2006. Our daddies have known each other for 14 years since they were in college together. I am sure Grace and I will be good friends.

Charlie and Tracy Luther also came up with their son Nicholas. He's a year old and is so cute! I kind of have a crush on him. He can walk! And he has a great smile.

Having visitors is so much fun!

Tracy and Charlie Luther are the parents of Nicholas--the cutest one-year-old in New York City and my future husband

Sunny and Eric stop by for a visit; Eric has finally found someone in the building to relate to (same hairstyle).

The camera catches my reaction as Grace informs me she already has dibs on Nicholas Luther

Day 2

We left the hospital today, and not a moment too soon! Last night was tough. It seemed like every five minutes someone was coming in and waking up Mommy and me. This morning Daddy came and took us home, but only after a few more tests and what not.

I am so happy to be back in our little Inwood apartment. I did enjoy my first trip to the outside world... New York is so exciting! So many people and things to see. Lots of noises and smells. When I got home I slept for a while. But Mommy keeps waking me up to eat. This is the life.

New York City!

Home... finally!

Day 1

The waiting is over! I was born on Thursday morning, 10 days after my due date. What a journey! Mommy and I were working really hard for over a day, and we're exhausted!

At 11:37 am I finally emerged after 31 hours of tough labor. I weigh 9 lbs. 4oz., and I am 21 inches long. They say I am a big baby. I think that means I'm healthy.

My grandmothers Delfina and Edie were there too. It was nice to have everyone here for my big day. I feel pretty special. Special and tired.

Boy was I tired!
